Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in human services, social work, recreation, gerontology, community development, or a related field; or at least two years of relevant experience in activities or program coordination, volunteer coordination, resident engagement, human services, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of community resources and the ability to foster positive relationships with community partners.
  • Knowledge of or experience working with individuals with special needs, including people with disabilities, people who have experienced homelessness, and seniors.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient demeanor.
  • Knowledge of or experience working with diverse populations, including older adults, people with disabilities, families, and individuals who have experienced homelessness.
  • Understanding of how to develop inclusive and accessible activities and programs responsive to varying needs and abilities.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with staff, residents, community partners, and volunteers to develop a comprehensive activities program aligned with residents’ interests and preferences.
  • Plan, organize, and implement diverse activities, including exercise classes, arts and crafts sessions, educational workshops, safety seminars, cultural events, outings, and entertainment programs, with volunteer and resident support.
  • Ensure activities are inclusive and accommodate the varying abilities and interests of residents.
  • Build relationships with residents to understand their preferences, needs, and feedback regarding the activities program.
  • Promote resident engagement and participation through effective communication, encouragement, and enthusiasm.
  • Create and maintain marketing materials and calendars to promote resident engagement.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and appreciate activity assistants or volunteers who support the organization and delivery of programs.
  • Develop resident leadership as a source of volunteer support.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to ensure smooth execution of activities.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, training, and support to direct reports to enhance their performance.
  • Coordinate logistics such as venue booking, equipment setup, and transportation.
  • Manage budgets, supplies, equipment, and external vendors or performers for special events.
  • Maintain accurate records of expenses, attendance, and feedback to assess activity effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with staff, residents, volunteers, and external stakeholders to support the activities program and enhance the resident experience.
  • Communicate regularly with residents and staff about upcoming activities, events, and schedule changes.
  • Solicit resident input and incorporate their ideas into the activities program whenever possible.
  • Prioritize resident safety and well-being during activities and outings, taking appropriate precautions to prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Stay informed about relevant health and safety guidelines, particularly those concerning seniors’ specific needs and limitations.
  • Identify residents in need of supportive services and refer them to a BHP Resident Services Coordinator.
  • Evaluate the activities program using resident feedback, attendance, and outcomes for each activity or event.
  • Use feedback and data to improve and refine activity offerings.
  • Stay current on trends and best practices in resident engagement, community-based programming, healthy aging, accessibility, and inclusive activities programming.
  • Incorporate innovative ideas into the program as appropriate.
  • Represent BHP through participation in professional organizations, meetings, and public speaking events.
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational needs.
  • Maintain regular, predictable attendance; the schedule may occasionally include evening or weekend activities and events.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and customer service.
  • Support BHP’s mission, values, and safety standards.

Boulder awards $21M in affordable-housing grants. BOULDER - The City of Boulder has awarded $21.38 million in grants from the Affordable Housing Fund to two organizations. The Affordable Housing Fund is used to build, rehabilitate or acquire affordable housing, with funds sourced from commercial linkage fees, Inclusionary Housing cash-in-lieu and the county's Affordable and Attainable Housing Tax. The fund helps advance the city's goal for 15% of all homes in Boulder to be permanently affordable by 2035. "This fund round is the city's largest one-year invest in affordable housing," Kurt Firnhaber, director of Housing and Human Services, said in a written statement. "These investments build on our successes in 2025; the city added 242 new affordable homes in 2025. With our investments in this fund round, we will add another 184 homes to the city's affordable home inventory which will help families, service workers and retirees stay in the community they call home. We are fortunate to have a strong partnership with Boulder Housing Partners and Thistle Communities that effectively leverage these funds to help the city toward our affordable housing goals." - Boulder Housing Partners' Golden West North Tower at 1055 and 1057 Adams Circle was awarded $1,400,000. The project is converting a formerly vacant assisted-living tower into 31 updated independent-living apartments for low-income seniors with 21 units becoming permanently affordable.
