Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
  • A valid State of Florida Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Applicable department-specific certifications are required.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience is required.
  • Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Proficiency using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Complete assessments and document patient interactions and general observations according to unit standards, including age and cultural considerations, care management, and teaching; make necessary referrals.
  • Demonstrate advanced competency in the area of practice.
  • Administer medications and treatments and maintain accurate related records in accordance with regulatory bodies, policies, and procedures.
  • Reassess and document intervention effectiveness according to guidelines and protocols, and evaluate diagnoses or problems in the plan of care based on patient status.
  • Communicate the plan of care clearly and promptly to patients, families, and appropriate team members.
  • Participate in developing policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of care, and examine treatments to determine whether they reflect best practices.
  • Represent nurses by actively participating in committees and task forces.
  • Begin discharge planning upon admission and use available resources to prepare for discharge, involving patients and their support networks in the plan of care.
  • Manage personal work and time and prioritize assignments to complete work on time.
  • Adapt to changing work demands and environments, anticipate possible problems, and assist nurse leaders in developing contingency plans.
  • Evaluate other staff in providing care and provide concise, constructive feedback to employees and leadership.
  • Serve as a preceptor to students and new staff as needed.
  • Serve as a Charge Nurse or Resource Nurse when needed.
  • Initiate unit-level projects with significant impact on patient care, expense reduction, safety, or patient experience.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
