Job Description Summary
Serves as the Department Administrator for the Department of Neuroscience. Responsible for directing and supervising all departmental activities including financial management, personnel management and supervision, implements business practices, as well as develops procedures and policies congruent with strategic plans and highly efficiency functioning of the department’s administrative team. Serves as advisor and consultant and special projects coordinator to the Department Chair.

Job Description
Job Duties:
20% Actively serves on University, College, and Departmental Committees, helping ensuring the continued growth and stability of Neurosciences.
20% Directs and supervises all personnel activities including recruitment, effort allocation, and all other personnel actions for faculty, staff, and grant employees. Serves as primary resource for all personnel related information including policies and procedures.
20% Performs and supervises activities related to the fiscal management of the department, including supervising and directing budget development, implementation and management based on interpretation of federal, state, university and departmental policies and guidelines for extramural awards, departmental funds and other departmental programs and in accordance with established departmental goals (for all funds including extramural funding, IDC allocations, state funds and Dean’s allocation). Advises Department Chairman in all aspects of departmental finances and planning. Responsible for maintaining solvency of the department and ensuring fidelity of funding.
20% Plays a key role in strategic planning processes based on departmental, university, and facility missions. Responsible for directing a team based approach and integrated planning process to the mission, strategic analysis, and development of long term objectives leading to consistent and planned results. Responsible for the financial projections and identifying appropriate performance measurements. Responsible for implementing the operating plan and results management with continuous focus on goals of excellence in medical, dental and graduate education; and promoting departmental, interdepartmental and inter-institutional collaborations.
20% Responsible for business and administrative management of the department, including supervision, training and assignment of duties for department members and administrative staff. Ensure that guidelines and policies developed for timely and accurate processing of all grant activities are followed and that related procurement activities and account reconciliations are timely and accurate.

Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree and five years relevant experience in administrative services, public administration or business management.
