Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain consistency in content across all student touchpoints and digital products.
  • Apply the principles of the Content Style Guide correctly and consistently in web content work.
  • Lead regular content audits with campus units to review and update web content in line with academic timelines and program priorities.
  • Recommend improvements to internal standards and processes to increase quality, performance, and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Conduct operational management, including documentation and training of staff related to website maintenance.
  • Write, edit, and publish usable, compelling, and well-organized content based on business objectives, user needs, and industry best practices.
  • Lead content design on digital projects by evaluating business and user content needs and writing, editing, structuring, and maintaining web content.
  • Communicate and develop relationships with subject matter experts to understand service and program needs and their relation to web projects and requests.
  • Educate teams about and review adherence to the Student Content Style Guide, UBC web guidelines, and accessibility standards.
  • Evaluate web content and provide recommendations to ensure it meets minimum Web Content Accessibility Guidelines requirements and the Content Style Guide for students.ubc.ca.
  • Champion and foster the inclusion of diverse student voices and perspectives, including representation of historically, persistently, or equity-seeking students.
  • Develop detailed project briefs outlining objectives, target audience, key messages, tasks, timelines, and desired outcomes.
  • Establish realistic project timelines and clear milestones, ensuring that involved parties are aligned and aware of key dates.
  • Plan, execute, and report on content projects with teams and stakeholders, keeping tasks on track and adjusting timelines as necessary.
  • Maintain communication with team members and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, addressing concerns and supporting collaboration.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, documentation, and other deliverables as needed.
  • Write, review, and provide recommendations on student-centred content for emails, newsletters, and documentation guides as required.
  • Exercise professional judgment, collegiality, and initiative while undertaking responsibilities and developing relationships and partnerships.
  • Work independently under the general guidance and supervision of the Manager, Content Strategy.
  • May lead recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, and mentorship of student staff.
Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience leading, writing, editing, and managing content across multiple digital platforms.
  • A higher education degree or diploma in Digital Media, Information Design, Information Management, or Communications.
  • A commitment to supporting historically, persistently, or equity-seeking student populations and an inclusive workplace.
  • Experience engaging with multiple diverse stakeholders, subject matter experts, or clients.
  • Strong project management skills and a proven track record coordinating multiple projects with many stakeholders or clients.
  • Ability to work in a flexible, changing environment.
  • A solid understanding of web content writing and editing principles and practices.
  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High initiative, curiosity, and willingness to experiment and innovate.
  • Attention to detail and sound judgment in all work.
  • Flexibility and ability to seek creative ideas for solving problems and identifying new opportunities.
  • Ability to use tact and discretion when working with confidential or sensitive information.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively with diverse partners and colleagues across campus.
