Requirements
  • 5+ years of legal experience as a practicing lawyer, preferably with prior in-house experience (Note: compensation and responsibilities will be commensurate with years of experience)
  • Juris Doctor or LLB from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in British Columbia
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
  • Effective analytical skills
  • Pragmatic problem solving and risk management skills
  • Effective communication skills; must be able to articulately and concisely explain and advocate for company's positions and protect company's interests
  • Excellent judgement with an understanding of when to ask for guidance or input
  • Strong work ethic and sense of humor
Responsibilities
  • Review, negotiate, and draft customer agreements, policies, partner agreements, and conduct business & legal negotiations
  • Advise internal teams on a broad spectrum of legal and business issues, including international data protection requirements, contractual commitments, industry-specific compliance obligations, intellectual property rights, and employment and human resources / employment issues
  • Provide legal support relating to compliance & eDiscovery subject matters
  • Provide legal support related to customer retention, renewals, and other related legal/accounting issues
  • Provide business support in the development of Global Relay's sales, marketing and business development strategies, new go-to-market strategies, product design, deployment, and positioning to help maximize revenues of the business team
  • Provide operational support with Global Relay's internal policies, communications, training, and education on Global Relay services and general governance
Desired Qualifications
  • SaaS, telecommunications, privacy and licensing experience is a plus
