Responsibilities
  • Develop a strategic plan for the unit.
  • Serve on the departmental leadership team.
  • Direct unit staff and set performance standards and accountabilities.
  • Ensure that programs, activities, and services comply with University, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Provide input and guidance into the unit's budget and fiscal operations.
  • Develop and seek funding for programs to promote the unit mission.
  • Oversee communications, promotions, and public relations for the unit.
  • Develop and implement unit programs.
  • Serve on University, division, and departmental committees and represent the department at State and National associations.
  • Implement process improvements.
  • Promote a collaborative team environment.
  • Oversee the daily financial and business operations of the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.
  • Support 24/7 hospital operations.
  • Maintain financial reserves for continuity.
  • Oversee Electronic Medical Records System financial reconciliation with FAMIS.
  • Serve as liaison for Foundation funds.
  • Provide financial insights to leadership.
  • Respond to financial inquiries and collaborate across units.
  • Participate in committees and initiatives.
  • Develop financial reports, analyses, and surveys.
  • Prepare projections and insights for decision-making.
  • Direct the annual operating budget preparation.
  • Handle special projects as directed.
  • Provide guidance on financial procedures and transactions.
