Requirements
  • The candidate must be able to work independently from home in a fast-paced, changing, and goal-oriented environment.
  • The candidate must have direct account follow-up and/or billing experience.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG.
  • The candidate must provide information regarding patient accounts while safeguarding confidential information in verbal replies and correspondence.
  • The candidate must understand the entire revenue cycle.
  • The candidate must be detail oriented, organized, and able to apply critical thinking skills.
  • The candidate must assist with problem solving, inquiries, and customer interaction to ensure positive results.
  • The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • The candidate must have 3-5 years of insurance accounts receivable follow-up experience.
  • The candidate must maintain a stable internet connection, a quiet and dedicated workspace, and access to necessary office equipment.
  • The candidate must be able to communicate daily with team members, management, and clients through email, phone calls, video meetings, and other collaborative tools.
Responsibilities
  • Follow up on and collect assigned accounts using experience, follow-up strategies, and tools to resolve claims and obtain payment.
  • Escalate unpaid claims to payer claims supervisors when regular follow-up efforts are unsuccessful.
  • Document client host systems using the 5 W’s framework and related policies and procedures, then copy account notes into Amplify’s workflow tool.
  • Assign appropriate status codes, such as root cause and action codes, in Amplify’s workflow tool so trends can be identified and addressed.
  • Write first- and second-level appeals for denials to overturn denials and secure payment.
  • Escalate payer denial and other trends to management for further assistance.
  • Work assigned underpayments when directed by management.
  • Maintain client- and position-specific daily productivity and quality expectations.
  • Research and analyze correspondence related to assigned accounts.
  • Maintain proper lighting and ergonomics while sitting at a desk for extended periods.
Desired Qualifications
  • Intermediate experience in Excel is preferred.
  • Additional training in hospital insurance collections is a plus.
  • Previous experience with California payers is preferred.
