Requirements
  • A High School Diploma, GED, or international equivalent plus five years of experience in millimeter-wave product design/test or a related field, or an Associate degree in Electrical Engineering plus three years of such experience.
  • Knowledge of amplifier circuit design, including low-noise and power amplifiers.
  • Knowledge of filter/network analysis and synthesis techniques.
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic theory, system analysis, and digital communication and modulation techniques.
  • Previous experience testing and measuring microwave and millimeter-wave hardware to at least 40 GHz, with the ability to determine whether measured results agree with theory or expectations.
  • Demonstrated advanced experience with PNA-X vector network analyzers.
  • Hands-on ability to assemble, tune, test, and troubleshoot hardware in a laboratory environment.
  • Basic understanding of surface-mount and microelectronic chip-and-wire manufacturing methods and techniques, including soldering, wedge bonding, silver epoxy application, expansion coefficient and thermal conductivity of materials, plating, hard and soft substrate materials, and printed-circuit-board manufacturing methods and techniques.
  • Practical knowledge of testing and measuring MMIC, LTCC, and ferrite core-and-wire products, including couplers, dividers, baluns, transformers, mixers, and amplifiers.
  • Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams and assembly drawings.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to perform basic soldering tasks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability and willingness to comply with corporate safety initiatives and the company's Code of Conduct.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive for extended periods.
Responsibilities
  • Align and test radio-frequency through millimeter-wave amplifiers, mixers, multipliers, switches, filters, couplers, attenuators, phase shifters, limiters, and other related components using PNA-X vector network analyzers.
  • Test, tune, and troubleshoot integrated assemblies when required.
  • Assist in generating tuning patterns, component value changes, and other design-related improvements to improve manufacturability.
  • Maintain high quality and production yields.
  • Prepare test reports and data summaries.
  • Operate and maintain calibration of test equipment, including PNA-X vector network analyzers and associated equipment.
  • Maintain a clean Engineering department laboratory bench space and support calibration schedules for bench equipment.
  • Utilize automated test equipment software, including MCL’s PNA software.
  • Interface with inspection and assembly teams to troubleshoot and test issues.
  • Support the engineering team in ISO audits and participate in internal and external audits.
  • Occasionally travel, including some overnight travel, as required.

Mini-Circuits Launches Wideband Digital Step Attenuator from 0.1 to 24 GHz

Mini-Circuits launches wideband digital step attenuator from 0.1 to 24 GHz. Mini-Circuits has introduced the ZX76-24G-30-S+, a 50 ohm coaxial solid-state digital step attenuator designed for wideband RF applications spanning 0.1 to 24 GHz. Engineered for precision and flexibility, the attenuator offers programmable attenuation from 0 to 31.5 dB in 0.5 dB steps, providing fine control over signal levels across a wide frequency range. The ZX76-24G-30-S+ features a 6-bit parallel control interface that requires no external clock and supports dual (+3.3 V / -3.0 V) or single-supply operation (+3.3 V to +5.4 V). Built for durability in demanding environments, it delivers high input IP3 performance of +50 dBm, good return loss (typical 15 dB), and glitch-free attenuation transitions, making it well-suited for test instrumentation, communication infrastructure, and defense applications such as radar, EW, ECM, and SATCOM systems. The device's robust design also ensures immunity to latch-up and stable operation from 0°C to +50°C, while supporting input power levels up to +22 dBm. It operates with an insertion loss as low as 3 dB (typically) up to 13 GHz and 4.5 dB (typically) up to 24 GHz. To simplify integration, Mini-Circuits includes a CBL-5FT-MPD+ pigtail control cable, featuring stripped wire ends and a pre-mounted connector for easy interface with the attenuator's 10-pin digital control port.
