Signal Processing Engineer @ STR

This includes the design and development of novel sensors and advanced information processing techniques from ideation to prototype implementations. The USA group develops and delivers advanced undersea sensor and signal processing systems related to intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) and counter-ISR applications.

About the Team:

The USA Group is hiring a junior to mid-level professional with signal and information processing skills and some exposure to sonar and undersea technologies. In this role you will be part of a team focused on the design, analysis, testing, and implementation of advanced underwater systems in support of customers seeking innovative solutions to complex and challenging national security problems.

A successful candidate will have knowledge and experience in some of the following areas: statistical signal processing, array signal processing, tracking, data fusion, optimization, adaptive signal processing, digital signal processing, information theory, and have experience applying and implementing signal processing techniques to solve real-world problems. In this position, you will work in multi-disciplinary teams and strong technical, interpersonal, and communication skills are expected.

What you will do:

Help formulate and propose technical solutions (algorithms, approaches, etc.) that cover all stages of acoustic processing including but not limited to detection, beamforming, narrowband and broadband processing, tracking, classification, sensor/data fusion, and decision making
Implement prototype algorithms in software (MATLAB, Python, C++) and support the embedding of those algorithms into prototype hardware systems
Help create and present technical presentations and reports
Articulate and communicate technical contributions to team members and Group management
Produce high-quality results, analyses, code, reports, briefs, etc.
Complete tasks on-time

Who you are:

Bachelor’s degree in a science related degree field (Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, Computer Science, Physics, etc.) with 2+ years of experience (engineer) or 4+ years of experience (senior engineer)
US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Strong programming skills (especially C++, MATLAB and/or python)
Strong knowledge base in signal and information processing (spanning some of the following areas: statistical signal processing, array processing, signal modeling, linear algebra, probability and random processes, optimization, tracking/data fusion, adaptive signal processing, digital signal processing, information theory)
Robust sense of initiative, a self-starter who can work independently
Mission oriented with a strong ability contribute to team goals and work in a team environment
Good communication skills

Nice to Haves:

Master’s degree in a science related field (Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, Computer Science, Physics, etc.)
Active SECRET or TOP SECRET security clearance
Experience with sonar processing chains, undersea systems, and undersea acoustics
Experience interacting with U.S. Navy and other U.S. Government organizations and processes
