Planet Labs Germany and Isar Aerospace have announced a strategic launch agreement for what will be Germany's first satellite-rocket mission using entirely German-built technology. Isar Aerospace will launch one of Planet's next-generation Pelican satellites on its Spectrum launch vehicle, scheduled for late 2026 from Andøya Space. The Pelican satellite will be assembled in Planet's upcoming Berlin manufacturing facility, whilst the rocket is being built near Munich. Planet is expanding its Berlin operations in 2026, adding up to 70 employees to its existing 150-strong team and doubling production capacity. Isar Aerospace is ramping up manufacturing to build up to 40 launch vehicles annually in its 40,000 square metre factory, responding to growing global demand for space access.
