JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Under the general supervision of the Plant Facilities Manager, the Facility Tech is responsible for the off site facility operation of all buildings owned and or leased by Central Vermont Medical Center (CVMC) and overseeing the grounds maintenance of the CVMC main campus. This position requires an elevated level general facilities maintenance skills. The position is responsible for the general maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment / systems, and both interior and exterior building repair to include vendor interaction related to grounds and seasonal needs. The technician must be able to coordinate with property owners and outside contractors/vendors to timely meet the facilities maintenance needs. The technician shall work closely with the clinical Practice Manager to ensure minimal interruption of services and to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of CVMC.

EDUCATION: 

Knowledge of maintenance programs and equipment operation, and state, federal, city, and county and all hospital regulating agency codes.  Requires ability to work with computer software related to plant operations, word processing, email and spreadsheets. Requires the performance of technical skills equivalent to that of a journeyman carpenter familiar with a broad range of methods and techniques. Strong supervisory and organizational skills.

EXPERIENCE: 

Associate degree from two year college in related field or equivalent experience required.  Equivalent experience is defined as having attended a trade school or a minimum of five years of experience working in the carpentry trade. A valid Vermont Driver’s License will be required prior to hire.
