Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community college student issues through programming, resource management, and other professional activities.
  • Experience connecting students to support programs and resources and maintaining student confidentiality and sensitive information observed during student interaction.
  • Knowledge and understanding of student development theory, current issues, and trends in student affairs and student development.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and commitment to the open access policy and philosophy of the comprehensive community college.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the multiple backgrounds of Dallas College students.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student discipline.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with administration, faculty, students, staff, and other constituent groups and partners within and outside a college or university.
  • Ability to identify and address opportunities and challenges arising from Dallas College’s transition to a one-college model.
  • Understanding of contemporary issues in higher education through professional development activities.
  • Three years of experience developing outcome-based student engagement experiences and support interventions within an academic environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Current and valid Texas driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work extended hours beyond the regular 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. hours.
  • Experience working with diverse student and staff populations.
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and, where applicable, a fingerprint check.
Responsibilities
  • Develop tailored programmatic efforts to support student retention and success for members of various communities reflecting Dallas College’s student populations.
  • Work collaboratively with college and community partners to enhance the academic success of various Dallas College student populations.
  • Provide departmental support across the seven Dallas College campuses when needed.
  • Deliver co-curricular engagement that increases students’ intercultural and global competency, enhances the college student experience, and builds career readiness skills.
  • Provide in-service training and facilitate meetings, workshops, and seminars to identify issues and develop recommendations supporting students.
  • Serve as a resource to staff, faculty, students, and the campus community on student engagement and activities, and act as the departmental contact for an assigned campus location.
  • Advise senior administrators on implementing programs, new initiatives, and special projects.
  • Lead or partner on major events, activities, and initiatives, including Welcome Week events, Heritage Celebrations, Solidarity Days, immersion trips, global programming, campus-based activities, and departmental signature programming.
  • Ensure that programs, services, and activities comply with university, state, and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate and facilitate interactive workshops that promote experiential learning.
  • Complete required Dallas College professional development training hours per academic year.
  • Monitor transportation of and accompany or drive students to program activities, workshops, and engagement opportunities.
  • Support programs and events across all seven Dallas College campuses while being housed at a specific campus location.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
