COFIDES supports BMAT's expansion in Italy, strengthening its leadership in music technology. COFIDES has granted a €407,705 loan to BMAT, a Spanish technology SME specializing in music and audiovisual monitoring solutions for copyright management and digital content, to support the company's international growth. The financing, provided through the FONPYME (SME Foreign Investment Operations Fund), will enable BMAT to complete the acquisition of the remaining 30% stake in Italian company Metro Media System (MMS), following its initial acquisition of a 70% interest in 2024, which was also supported by COFIDES. The transaction completes the full integration of the Italian company into the Spanish group. The acquisition strengthens BMAT's presence in Italy, one of Europe's largest copyright and audiovisual advertising markets. Full ownership of MMS will enhance BMAT's position in audiovisual advertising intelligence while accelerating technological and commercial synergies between the two businesses. Founded in Barcelona in 2006, BMAT has established itself as one of the world's leading providers of music monitoring technology for copyright management and royalty distribution. The company operates in more than 80 countries and serves over 1,200 clients, including collective management organizations, record labels, digital platforms and audiovisual groups. COFIDES has supported BMAT's international expansion strategy since 2019. During this period, it has backed eight international expansion projects, including the establishment of subsidiaries and acquisitions in strategic markets such as the United States, Argentina, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Singapore and Italy. Miguel Ángel Ladero, Corporate Director of Investments at COFIDES, said: "Our support for BMAT reflects COFIDES' commitment to the international growth of innovative Spanish companies capable of generating added value and strengthening Spain's technological positioning in global markets." He added that "this transaction contributes to the international expansion of Spanish technology, reinforces a highly R&D-intensive company, supports the creation of skilled employment, and promotes more transparent management of music and audiovisual content." Salvador Guerrera, Chief Financial Officer of BMAT, commented: "COFIDES' continued support strengthens BMAT's ability to grow through M&A transactions and the establishment of new international subsidiaries. With these operations, we have taken another step towards consolidating our position as a neutral, fast and reliable operating system for the music rights industry." BMAT expands collaboration with MCT Thailand to scale VOD royalty processing in APAC. BMAT, a global leader in music technology and rights and royalties data, and MCT, Thailand's collective management organisation for composers, authors, and music publishers, are expanding their collaboration to enhance structured Video on Demand (VOD) processing across both historical and current data. The extension strengthens the administration of audiovisual royalties in Thailand and across the wider APAC region. As VOD consumption grows across Asia-Pacific, the scale and complexity of music usage increases accordingly. The extended collaboration introduces structured processing, supported by BMAT's database of more than 10 million audiovisual works and 1.5 million cue sheets, powering real-time data and automated workflows. Together, these contribute to more consistent and scalable music rights processing and royalty distribution across VOD services in the region. Under the expanded agreement, MCT will process retrospective and current VOD usage through BMAT's Music Operating System. For MCT's members, this means VOD usage will be managed within BMAT's infrastructure already trusted by more than 140 Collective Management Organisations and Performance Rights Organisations across 250 territories worldwide. It increases both the number and accuracy of rightsholders receiving royalties. It also enables faster and more efficient distributions while reinforcing the transparency and consistency of reporting delivered across the APAC ecosystem. This builds on a collaboration that began in 2020, when MCT adopted BMAT's DSP processing and BackOffice services. The extended agreement marks a natural progression from digital audio workflows into full audiovisual royalty administration. It positions MCT at the forefront of structured VOD processing in the region. "We've been working alongside MCT since 2020, and expanding into full VOD processing reflects the natural evolution of that collaboration. As audiovisual consumption grows across APAC, it's encouraging to see societies investing in structured, scalable systems that support creators with clarity and consistency. We're proud to support MCT as it strengthens its VOD framework, ensuring its members can rely on reporting that is accurate, transparent and aligned with international standards," said Iñigo Ugarteburu, CEO of BMAT. BMAT's Music Operating System processes €1.5 billion in digital royalties each year, including their VOD Processing solution, which operates across 12 leading SVOD platforms in 17 territories. The platform handles multi-source usage datasets and aligns them with authoritative rights and repertoire information. By applying industry-standard identifiers such as ISWC and ISRC, it generates validated reporting outputs for societies and rightsholders worldwide, providing established audiovisual processing infrastructure at international scale. Together, MCT and BMAT are contributing to a more scalable, transparent and internationally aligned standard for VOD royalty processing in APAC. Onboarding is now underway, and operational milestones will be communicated in due course.
