Requirements
  • A master's degree in library science from an American Library Association-accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience in professional library work.
  • A current and valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, or extra hours when required.
  • Ability to drive city fleet vehicles to provide programming and services at library outreach locations.
Responsibilities
  • Initiate, plan, and conduct programs, services, outreach visits, and annual systemwide events.
  • Provide programming at a systemwide level and support branch programming as assigned.
  • Assist with project management for systemwide programming efforts, services, and events.
  • Create age-appropriate library programs collaboratively, aligned with strategic programming priorities, and based on sound instructional design principles.
  • Assist with systemwide collection analysis and maintenance.
  • Develop complex search strategies using the library automated system and electronic resources, and conduct in-depth research using print, non-print, and electronic resources.
  • Develop and foster process improvement by encouraging ideas, identifying trends, and evaluating processes and data.
  • Maintain awareness of authors, materials, culture, current events, and trends to respond to customers' information needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of new technologies and resources in library and publishing fields through professional journals, professional organizations, and continuing education.
  • Explain library policies and procedures to customers and staff to resolve conflicts.
  • Track and collect data to measure services, programs, and collections, and maintain library records according to the approved retention schedule.
  • Generate reports to support library planning and operations.
  • Collaboratively develop and deliver competency-based training for library staff.
  • Prepare, present, and evaluate group training classes on library resources and technology for staff, customers, school groups, and community groups.
  • Identify and analyze equipment problems and determine solutions to maintain customer safety, security, and comfort.
  • Recommend and assist with the design and maintenance of branch spaces based on subject-matter expertise.
  • Participate in departmental strategic teams to develop library system policies and procedures.
