Requirements
  • Required – Registered nurse license, Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Certifications: Good standing as a licensed Registered Nurse with the State of Texas Board of Nursing; current BLS certifications (PALS preferred), First aid, CPR, Emergency behavior intervention
  • Work experience: At least 5 years of experience as a registered nurse
  • Immunization and health clearance: Must provide current physical-medical release and provide proof of immunizations, titers, or declinations for MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, Tetanus, PPD, Meningococcal (preferred)
  • Pre-employment checks and eligibility: Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment; provide proof of work eligibility status upon request; pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks
  • Communication and professional requirements: Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with staff; communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English; maintain computer literacy; work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team; demonstrate a working knowledge of Compass Connections policies and procedures
  • Physical and functional requirements: Must be able to perform physical activity such as extensive walking, stretching, and bending; must be able to work in a team environment; maintain professional people skills
  • Vaccination policy: All employees must receive an annual influenza vaccination or obtain an approved exemption as a medical or religious accommodation
Responsibilities
  • Meet and maintain all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to this position.
  • Provide telehealth triage services to assess patient needs and evaluate symptoms, including answering patient inquiries, providing patient teaching, and determining urgency and appropriate course of action.
  • Conduct in-person and virtual assessments based on established protocols and accurately document medical findings.
  • Gather, collect, and clarify patients’ current condition and past medical history.
  • Effectively communicate with Medical Director as needed for reporting findings which are concerning for patient’s health and well-being.
  • Communicate with RN Managers and other medical staff to devise individual plans of care and act as a nurse support to other medical staff.
  • Implement Compass Connections safety protocols including evacuating with children and other staff in case of an emergency.
  • Maintain confidentiality of health care records and information in keeping with HIPAA and Compass Connections confidentiality and Personally Identifiable Information protocol and procedures.
  • Address other job duties as assigned or for unforeseen matters that require attention to maintain a fluid and fully functional program.
  • Plan, organize and prioritize daily work using sound judgement.
  • Monitor established health care plans for service population at the sites within the timeframe established by our State and Federal partners.
  • Ensure accurate documentation in accordance with agency policies and procedures, regulatory requirements and standards, and program timeline requirements.
  • Meet all program and federal partners’ documentation and processes requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Pediatric nursing experience (preferred)
  • PALS certification preferred
  • Meningococcal vaccination (preferred)
  • Experience with telehealth services (implicit in responsibilities)
  • BLS certification (already required but listed as certification)
