Requirements
  • At least one year of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Graduate from an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Hold current licensure and registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.
  • Hold Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Have knowledge of infection-control principles, performance improvement, and delegation.
Responsibilities
  • Observe and record patient progress, symptoms, reactions, complaints, and interventions in the electronic medical record as appropriate, and report changes in patient condition to the provider.
  • Assist the office with answering incoming calls and gather appropriate patient data before handing calls off to providers.
  • Contact patients as delegated by the provider to advise them of test results or relay physician instructions.
  • Administer vaccinations and medications within scope and training as delegated by the Nurse Coordinator or selected healthcare provider.
  • Provide direct patient care within scope and delegation, including phlebotomy, laboratory collection, catheter-associated urine collection, ear irrigation, vaccine and medication administration, wound care, and suture or staple removal.
  • Instruct patients and families on physician-recommended preventative care and correct medication self-administration, and provide educational materials as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.
