Requirements
- Education sufficient to obtain a state nursing license as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or Registered Nurse.
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse licensure in good standing is required.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification is required.
- Strong understanding of the English language sufficient to read, write, and interpret administrative information is required.
- The role requires continuous walking and standing, infrequent sitting, and the ability to work both inside and outside.
- The role requires lifting, carrying, and pushing loads ranging from 0 to 100 pounds at specified frequencies.
- The role requires frequent stair climbing, bending, squatting, and reaching, with occasional twisting or overhead reaching.
Responsibilities
- Participate in incoming and outgoing shift reports.
- Complete documentation according to Ciel Senior Living standards to ensure care services are provided and residents’ needs are met.
- Supervise Resident Assistants on nursing-department assignments while on shift.
- Participate in narcotic counts at shift change and accurately document inventory counts.
- Administer medications as directed in compliance with the Rights of Medication Administration.
- Participate in weekly medication cart audits as assigned.
- Assist with reordering medications and maintain the cleanliness of the medication room.
- Fax new medication orders to the pharmacy to obtain medications accurately and in a timely manner.
- Inform families when mail-order medications need to be reordered.
- Communicate with physician offices to obtain phone orders or changes to resident orders.
- Follow Physician Order Protocol for processing orders.
- Document resident changes in condition or status according to policy.
- Assist with chart audits, chart thinning, required assessments, and service plans.
- Assist with developing and maintaining resident service plans and care plans.
- Document incident reports correctly and in a timely manner.
- Update do-not-resuscitate orders as needed.
- Assist the Health and Wellness Director in creating and maintaining resident charts and care files.
- Participate in annual flu clinics and tuberculosis testing for associates and residents.
- Participate in community wellness programs as assigned.
- Obtain and record residents’ temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and weight as directed.
- Observe residents for responses to specified medications and report or notify designated personnel of unexpected reactions.
- Counsel residents in identifying and resolving social or other problems.
- Schedule doctors’ appointments based on resident needs.
- Ensure call lights are answered promptly to attend to resident needs.
- Attend required training and conferences to stay current with changes in nursing and maintain appropriate continuing education units for licensure, with supervisor approval.
- Ensure all training required by state regulations is completed and documented annually.
- Ensure caregiver duties are performed as assigned and documented appropriately.
- Address associate, family, and resident concerns to promote satisfaction and effective communication.
- Maintain knowledge of the community’s fire evacuation and disaster policies and participate in fire and disaster drills as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of pertinent personal and health information concerning residents and staff.
- Follow compliance and ethics program policies and procedures.
- Complete mandatory compliance, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and state and federal regulatory training.
- Attend community training courses and maintain current monthly, quarterly, and annual training through the designated Learning Management System.
Desired Qualifications
- One to two years of experience in assisted living is preferred.
