About the Role

As a Senior Automation QA Engineer, you will anchor the test engineering strategy with a heavy technical emphasis on backend architectures, RESTful APIs, and complex database validation. Operating within a 70% automation to 30% manual execution model, you will design, scale, and maintain robust automated testing solutions that guarantee data integrity, service reliability, and architectural stability across modern software systems. You will serve as the quality backbone within high-performing delivery PODs, translating intricate business logic into reliable, maintainable test suites.

This role is critical to expanding automation coverage, minimizing regression risk, and accelerating deployment velocity for client products. Your success will be measured by framework stability, backend test efficiency, complex SQL validation accuracy, and your ability to drive quality standards alongside cross-functional development teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Build Test Frameworks: Architect, implement, and maintain scalable API and backend test automation frameworks using modern languages and tools.
• Optimize Database Validation: Write and execute complex database queries to validate state changes, perform data integrity audits, and verify backend transaction workflows.
• Validate API & Backend Services: Build functional, integration, and regression automation suites targeting REST/gRPC microservices and data pipelines.
• Lead Quality Assurance Protocols: Balance a 70/30 automated-to-manual split by conducting exploratory testing for complex edge cases while driving high-impact test automation strategies.
• Collaborate Across Delivery PODs: Integrate automated test suites directly into modern CI/CD pipelines, partnering closely with developers and DevOps engineers to drive shift-left testing practices.

Requirements

• Experience: 5+ years of dedicated experience in software quality engineering, with a proven emphasis on backend test automation (70%) and targeted manual validation (30%).
• Backend & API Automation: Strong expertise automating RESTful APIs using tools and libraries such as REST Assured, PyTest, Playwright, Postman, or Karate.
• Database Expertise: Advanced proficiency in SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL) for deep data validation, ETL verification, and state assertions.
• Core Tech Stack: Proficiency in at least one core programming language used for automation development (Python, Java, TypeScript, or C#).
• Soft Skills: Demonstrable ownership mindset, collaborative spirit, and a proactive approach to risk identification.
• Communication: Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal) for seamless integration with US-based engineering teams and stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
• Familiarity with containerized testing environments using Docker.
• Exposure to performance and load testing tools such as K6, JMeter, or Locust.
• Prior experience in cloud-native environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
