Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of four years of experience supporting high level executives or related project management experience.
  • Master’s Degree may be substituted for two years of work experience.
  • Working knowledge in a Microsoft Office Suite environment, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with various departments and levels of management throughout the MTA and other MTA agencies.
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills with the ability to foster teamwork and effective working relationships.
  • Exceptionally self-motivated and directed.
  • Excellent understanding of project management principles.
  • Superior understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Exceptional experience navigating through the politics of a large, multi-tiered, multi-agency public sector organization.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills with thorough knowledge of administrative functions, including the ability to work independently and/or simultaneously on multiple projects while adhering to deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Must be able to work outside normal business hours when required.
  • Travel may be required to other MTA locations or other external sites.
  • Ability to file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government due to policymaking position.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the preparation, drafting, and coordination of policy communications, white papers, talking points, and presentations, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
  • Responsible for the preparation of public facing communications from the Office of the Chair regarding the progress of key policy projects and initiatives.
  • Responsible for researching, preparing, and drafting any necessary background memos or other documents for all internal and external meetings for new or ongoing issues, ensuring the Policy & External Relations is informed, ready, and prepared with appropriate materials.
  • Track policy initiatives and elevate priorities for appropriate City, State, and Federal forums by creating and staffing a policy working group across departments and across MTA agencies to develop MTA’s policy agenda and drive implementation.
  • Prepares for and follows up on internal and external meetings and performs necessaryfollow-up with relevant parties.
  • Provides members of senior management and direct reports to the Chair and CEO and Chief, Policy & External Relations, the support needed to move projects forward by assisting with gathering information, communicating with multiple parties, developing and monitoring plans, and keeping track of project deadlines and responsibilities.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while following through on issues promptly.
  • Manages special projects as assigned.
