ChargePoint deploys overhead fast charging system at Portland International Airport for rental car fleets

ChargePoint has deployed an overhead fast charging system at Portland International Airport's Quick Turnaround Facility for rental car electrification. The installation features 10 dual-port dispensers mounted overhead with retractable cable management, enabling up to 20 vehicles to charge simultaneously. The overhead design reclaims ground-level space, simplifies installation, and prevents vehicular damage to equipment. According to Portland International Airport's rental car manager, the system reduced installation costs by limiting required conduit and wiring. The deployment includes ChargePoint's fleet management software, providing real-time monitoring and intelligent charging management. ChargePoint CEO Rick Wilmer said the project demonstrates how fast charging can integrate into existing car parks without compromising equipment placement. ChargePoint operates over 1.4 million charging ports worldwide and has powered more than 21 billion electric miles since 2007.
