Crown Holdings reported second quarter 2026 results showing diluted earnings per share of $2.23, up from $1.56 in 2025. Adjusted diluted earnings per share increased 16% to $2.49 compared to $2.15 in the prior year. Global beverage can volumes rose 5%, driven by double-digit growth in Asia and increases of 7% in Europe and 5% in North America. Net sales reached $3,668 million versus $3,149 million in the second quarter of 2025. The company repurchased $305 million in shares during the quarter, representing almost 7% of outstanding shares over the previous twelve months. The net leverage ratio stood at 2.5 times adjusted EBITDA. Crown raised its full year guidance for adjusted diluted earnings per share to a range of $8.30 to $8.50, up from $7.90 to $8.30 previously. The company expects to generate adjusted free cash flow of at least $900 million.
Crown Holdings reported first-quarter revenues of $3.26 billion, up 12.9% year on year and exceeding analysts' expectations by 7.8%. Despite beating revenue and earnings per share estimates, the stock has declined 8.6% since reporting and currently trades at $92.88. Across the industrial packaging sector, the seven tracked stocks reported a strong quarter, with revenues beating consensus estimates by 3.6% on average. However, share prices have declined 2.7% on average since earnings announcements. Graphic Packaging Holding was the best performer, reporting revenues of $2.16 billion—up 1.7% year on year and outperforming expectations by 5.1%. Its stock has risen 9.1% since reporting, currently trading at $10.43. Industrial packaging companies face shifting customer preferences towards eco-friendly materials whilst remaining vulnerable to macroeconomic conditions and consumer spending patterns.
StockStory has flagged Crown Holdings as a company to avoid, citing limited growth potential, slower earnings growth than peers and pressure from high input costs affecting gross margins. The critique questions whether Crown's scale and cost structure now constrain rather than support its competitiveness. Crown's Q1 2026 results illustrate these concerns: revenue rose to $3.26 billion from $2.89 billion year-on-year, whilst net income fell to $175 million from $193 million and earnings per share slipped to $1.56 from $1.65. The mixed results highlight how input costs and competitive pressures are affecting profitability. The company's narrative projects $13.5 billion revenue and $899.4 million earnings by 2029, requiring 2.9% yearly revenue growth. Community fair value estimates range from $126 to $195 per share.
