Requirements
  • A high school degree or equivalent is required.
  • At least 1 year of work experience is required.
  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy is required and must be maintained.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians certification must be obtained and maintained.
  • New team members hired on or after November 1, 2023 must obtain certification within 6 months of hire, unless enrolled in an accredited or recognized pharmacy technician training program.
  • New team members enrolled in or enrolling in an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists-accredited and/or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board-recognized pharmacy technician training program have 30 days after program completion to obtain certification.
Responsibilities
  • Assist a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions.
  • Collect, input, and verify prescription, refill, and patient information.
  • Receive and stock incoming supplies.
  • Prepare labels and routine prepacked orders.
  • Perform clerical duties relating to the department as needed.
