Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (psychology, human services), Masters preferred.
  • Experience with age-range based upon teaching position needs.
  • Required use of computer, e.g. Microsoft Word, use of Internet-based systems (IEP and lesson planning), Internet, and report writing.
  • Teachers must possess or, in the alternative, must obtain licensure post-hire. Licensure determination rests with the MA Department of Education. Teachers must comply with the individual specific requirements as outlined by the MA Department of Education.
  • If not licensed, must meet waiver eligibility, apply for licensure and obtain licensure post-hire.
  • Valid driver's license.
Responsibilities
  • Math Teacher Teaches secondary school subjects in their content expertise in a special education environment and helps students learn subject matter and skills that contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible and productive citizens.
  • Prepares curriculum and lesson plans that reflect Massachusetts’ curriculum frameworks and individualizes instruction based on student needs.
  • Develops Individual Education Programs and documents students’ progress.
  • Aids students with behavioral, emotional and/or physical needs or disabilities.
  • Prepares and implements lesson plans to meet individual needs of students, considering state and agency requirements, and the physical, emotional and educational levels of student development. Lesson plans reflect the MA curriculum frameworks.
  • Designs, modifies and/or selects instructional materials and strategies appropriate to individual student needs.
  • Employs differentiated instruction using a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media and materials.
  • Utilizes appropriate assessment techniques, instructional materials and strategies to implement instruction with a variety of learners.
  • Designs, develops and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEP).
  • Develops and attends Individual Service Plan (ISP) meetings for assigned students.
  • Models and demonstrates caregiver qualities that treat all students and staff with dignity and respect, creating a warm, nurturing classroom environment for student learning.
  • Manages student behaviors within their classroom to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for students.
  • Works closely with ABC I in implementing individual behavior plans.
  • Teaches socially acceptable behavior employing techniques such as behavior modifications and positive reinforcement.
  • Student Supervision and Behavior Management
  • Administers annual standardized assessment to assigned students.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Worcester nonprofits team up to launch $1.1M child care business incubator. April 7, 2026 Seven Hills Foundation and Affiliates, the Guild of St. Agnes, and The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts have partnered to launch a new $1.1-million incubator space in Worcester designed to help child care providers launch their own businesses. The Family Childcare Success Project incubator is the first of its kind in Central Massachusetts, according to the three Worcester-based nonprofits. The incubator aims to provide resources and training for those interested in launching their own child care businesses while providing on-site care for area families, with a capacity of 20 children. Participants will have up to two years to build their businesses while operating from the space while they develop their client base and work toward establishing a permanent location. The incubator will operate from two classroom spaces at an existing child care center operated by the Guild at 129 Granite St. The project was launched with $1.1 million from The Health Foundation's Synergy Initiative, which provides funding for projects targeting community-identified health issues in Central Massachusetts. Seven Hills Foundation and Affiliates is the largest human services nonprofit in Central Massachusetts, with $466 million in revenue and 1,923 local employees, according to information provided to the WBJ Research Department. The Health Foundation is the seventh largest grant-making foundation and nonprofit in the region, with $88.25 million in assets. The Guild of St. Agnes generates $33 million in annual and has $17 million in assets, according to nonprofit financial tracker Guidestar.
