Responsibilities
  • Analyze the performance of formative and summative student assessments, including written and practical exams, workplace-based assessments, evaluations of clinical performance, observed structured clinical examinations, and other assessment tools, in collaboration with curricular leaders.
  • Participate in learner assessment mapping and support accreditation and continuous quality improvement.
  • Use statistical software and data visualization platforms to analyze learner assessment data for continuous quality improvement and program evaluation.
  • Collaborate with curriculum committees and educational leadership on data-driven curricular improvement related to student assessment.
  • Develop and implement faculty development programs and instruction on best practices in learner assessment across the medical education continuum.
  • Monitor external qualitative and quantitative undergraduate medical education learner assessment data, including United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 1 and Step 2 scores, Objective Structured Clinical Examination evaluations, and the Association of American Medical Colleges Graduation Questionnaire, in relation to educational program objectives.
  • Consult with faculty and program leaders on the design and implementation of assessment instruments to assess multiple facets of learner performance.
  • Develop and manage assessment strategies aligned with the school's mission and educational program outcomes.
  • Serve as a member of education and curricular review committees to provide expertise on learner assessment.
  • Produce and disseminate scholarly works and attend professional meetings related to learner assessment.
  • Direct one or more functional areas within a university administrative department and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Direct analytic and research support for educational policies and planning and develop and approve administrative policies affecting assigned functional areas of the university.
  • Direct and establish parameters for major projects for the department and university.
  • Interpret federal policies and regulations and educate staff and administration about regulations, restrictions, and the university's legal responsibilities.
  • Direct and implement policy and program modifications and develop standards to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop and administer an operating budget for the assigned department consistent with university policies and procedures.
  • Develop cost-saving objectives and goals, authorize major purchases, and negotiate contracts ranging from routine to complex.
  • Establish and implement long- and short-range goals for the functional area consistent with university goals and objectives.
  • Direct the development of related automated systems to support the function and determine office policies and procedures for using automated systems.
  • Direct the evaluation and selection of vendors and negotiate contract details, including work steps and pricing, with vendors on behalf of the assigned functional area.
  • Work with internal and external contacts to solve routine to complex problems.
  • Represent the university in discussions and negotiations with governmental agencies.
  • Direct a staff of exempt and nonexempt employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency in statistics and psychometrics.
  • Proficiency with statistical software and data visualization platforms.
  • Experience planning, designing, and implementing a learner assessment plan.
