Requirements
  • An active, in-scope United States Government-issued Secret clearance is required; an Interim Secret Clearance is acceptable.
  • United States citizenship is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience supporting installations, repair, troubleshooting, or maintenance of communications electronic systems or equipment is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience operating in a tactical environment while operating or maintaining antenna controllers, SSPA, LNA/LNB, up and down converters, fiber-optic, coaxial, and Ethernet cable, FDMA modems, and TDMA satellite modems is required.
  • Experience and skill with commercial and military satellite acquisition procedures and commercial TDMA/DAMA modems are required.
  • Candidates must be able to travel up to 10% to support the mission.
  • Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, an Associate's degree plus seven years of recent specialized experience, a certification plus seven years of recent specialized experience, or eleven years of recent specialized experience.
  • Candidates must have experience with protocol and network theory.
  • Candidates must be able to understand, configure, and troubleshoot DMVPN architecture.
  • Candidates must be able to perform routing protocols including OSPF, EIGRP, and RIP.
  • Candidates must understand switching fundamentals, including VLANs, VTP, port security, and spanning tree.
  • Candidates must be familiar with Cisco encryption concepts within a DMVPN architecture.
  • Candidates must understand TCP acceleration over satellite concepts.
Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day operation and maintenance support for fielded strategic SATCOM equipment.
  • Provide on-the-spot training.
  • Serve as the SATCOM planner for strategic systems when required.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to create more efficient methods.
  • Plan, install, operate, and maintain Promina-based Technical Control Facilities for the communications network.
  • Address the capabilities and limitations of Technical Control Facility equipment, troubleshooting procedures, security requirements, and the technology needed to install, operate, maintain, and restore links and circuits terminating in or traversing the facility.
  • Perform advanced corrective maintenance on Technical Control Facilities to the chassis-mounted component level.
  • Assess, evaluate, and re-engineer complex circuit and link restoration while accommodating critical communication architectural requirements.
  • Capture and record technical data during installation and fault isolation in log books, trouble tickets, outage reports, or Equipment Repair Orders.
  • Coordinate activation, deactivation, and fault isolation of communications links and circuits connecting different services and agencies across time zones and nationalities.
