  • Graduation or Post Graduation in sciences preferably with a Master’s degree in Business Administration
  • Broad-based knowledge and experience in sales function
  • 10-12 years of sales experience with preferably 4-5 years of people manager experience, preferably in healthcare industry
  • Has prior experience or exposure to S&IP products
  • Knowledge of customers, markets and competitors
  • Demonstrated examples of integrity, initiative, organizational sensitivity and collaboration are essential as the role works within a number of different functions across the organisation.
Responsibilities
  • Conduсts quarterly sales reviews with team and manager, adjusts strategies in accordance with Country requirements.
  • SFDC opportunities funnel review with each team member
  • Regularly travels out with each team member, to ensure strategies are fully implemented.
  • Ensures effective territory management and account targeting is practiced in each territory.
  • Identifies sales forecast gaps submits corrective strategies and implements aggressive sales growth.
  • Identifies business opportunity and execution of account wise /customer wise strategies for value capture.
  • Monitors monitor sales call frequency, territory coverage, sales performance and execute plans for further growth.
  • Responsible for budgeting, controls and executing governance and compliance
  • Maintains contact with major accounts and key relationships seeking to leverage profitable business ventures.
  • Attend and participate in customer, company, and industry sponsored forums.
  • Leads team of employees in the achievement of organizational goals. Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and if applicable, drive those practices throughout their organization.
  • Ongoing performance management by providing timely feedback to the employee on the areas of focus and the areas of development.
  • Identifies and develop successors for his /her own role
  • Motivates and guides the team to successfully overachieve the assigned targets. Identifies training needs and nominates for training.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

Owens & Minor names Darby Thompson VP of Strategic Business Development. April 7, 2026- Darby Thompson is joining Owens & Minor as Vice President (VP), Strategic Business Development and will report to Dean Huibregtse, Senior Vice President (SVP) Strategic Business Development. After working in various Commercial Account roles at Owens & Minor in the early 2000s, Darby went on to lead business development strategies in the industry and most recently served as the Director of Health System Strategy at Hanger Clinic. He is bringing his over 25 years of healthcare experience and a proven track record in business development with IDNs and GPOs to Owens & Minor.

Owens & Minor appoints Dirk Benson as chief commercial officer

Owens & Minor has appointed Dirk Benson as Chief Commercial Officer, effective immediately. Benson will oversee enterprise-wide commercial strategy and manage the company's US sales organisation, operations and customer service teams. Benson brings over 30 years of healthcare industry experience, most recently serving as president of US Distribution Business for Henry Schein. He previously spent 27 years at Medline Industries in senior leadership positions.
