Requirements
  • Candidates must have a valid European Union work permit and Irish residency.
  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in utilities engineering within the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical, or related regulated process manufacturing sector.
  • Previous experience delivering utilities in greenfield or brownfield projects.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple utility systems.
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers, contractors, and external engineering firms.
  • Experience with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems; building services; steam and boiler systems; chilled water and refrigeration; electrical power distribution; compressed air systems; and water and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, and models.
  • Experience troubleshooting utility system performance.
  • Familiarity with project management and capital expenditure processes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and ability to influence partners and suppliers.
  • Analytical and problem-solving ability in commissioning and start-up environments.
  • Commitment to company safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
  • Act as the technical owner and subject matter expert for utilities requirements onsite.
  • Lead and support utility-related greenfield installation projects.
  • Support utility installation, integration, commissioning, and qualification, including IQ, OQ, and PQ.
  • Manage onsite contractors to ensure milestones are delivered on time and in full.
  • Support factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, performance testing, and final environmental qualifications.
  • Troubleshoot utility performance issues during construction, commissioning, and start-up.
  • Support utility capital expenditure package scope, planning, and reporting.
  • Provide technical input on cost and forecast accuracy, schedule adherence, and risk registers.
  • Support change control and ensure utility changes are assessed and documented.
  • Work with Quality, Operations, EHS, R&I, Maintenance, and Engineering to meet environmental and hygienic requirements.
  • Collaborate with EPCM partners, utility consultants, and the existing site team on utility operations, availability, generation, tie-ins, layout conflicts, and commissioning plans.
  • Support Utility and Automation teams on interdependent BMS, SCADA, and EMS systems.
  • Support technical aspects of utility-system tenders, including URS, RFQs, technical bid evaluations, and clarifications.
  • Partner with Regional Engineering and CAPEX Procurement on supplier selection and contract alignment.
  • Support OEM and vendor deliverables for documentation, training, spare parts, and commissioning.
  • Support compliance with company engineering standards, GMP/HACCP, hygiene zoning rules, cleanroom and environmental-control guidelines, and local and European regulations and industry standards.
  • Embed safety principles in design and execution during installation and commissioning.
  • Support development and approval of utility-related SOPs, environmental-control procedures, preventive-maintenance plans, and spare-parts lists.
  • Ensure complete technical handover to Operations and Maintenance, including training and validated documentation.
  • Provide structured updates on utility progress, risks, commissioning readiness, and mitigation plans.
  • Provide technical insights for strategic and operational decision-making throughout project phases.
