Space Station Chemical Engineering Intern

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about learning, open to mentoring by top professionals, coaching, customer service, and developing problem solving skills. The role requires organization, time management, and communication skills. The 2025 Summer Internship program will be onsite at Axiom Space in Houston, Texas from June 2 to August 22. Interns are responsible for arranging their own transportation and accommodations as no relocation or housing assistance will be provided.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and develop system architectures and hardware that utilizes chemical reactions for commercial human spaceflight modules.  These chemical reactions are utilized areas such as propulsion, thermal systems, and environmental life control systems

• Build and test prototypes, prepare documentation to support system development

• Active participation in team brainstorming and technical review meetings

• Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

• Rising Junior or Senior or Advanced Degree (MS/MA or Ph.D.) in Chemical Engineering or related field

• Cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher

Skills

• Self-motivated

• Capability with engineering software (CAD, analysis, programming) is a plus

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements 

• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

• Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).

• Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
