Job Description

As a major research university, we are well positioned to support faculty candidates who have strong programs of research in areas of adult oncology, cancer survivorship, and cancer care delivery and outcomes.  We welcome candidates with a well-articulated research trajectory,  and the potential for securing external funding. Applicants with PhDs in nursing or related scientific disciplines with research expertise and a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration are encouraged to apply. 

Preference will be given to applicants with a well developed area of scholarship  and/or active research that aligns with the position.  Research is encouraged to focus on the cancer center’s catchment area, which features a high proportion of medically underserved patients. This faculty appointment emphasizes relationship building with our community of investigators to progress programs of research consistent with the college and cancer center missions. The successful candidate is expected to relocate to Charleston, South Carolina area upon hire.
 
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
•    PhD in nursing or related scientific discipline required
•    RN license (eligible for licensure in South Carolina) or active clinical licensure preferred
•    Demonstrated expertise in a defined area of nursing

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS CONSISTENT WITH DESIRED RANK
•    Record of peer-reviewed publications, funding support, and a focused program of research with potential for NIH funding
•    Current, historical or emerging ability to establish or maintain extramurally funded research program
•    Licensed Registered Nurse and eligible for licensure in the state of South Carolina

Hollings Cancer Center: The Hollings Cancer Center at MUSC is the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Cancer Center in the State of South Carolina, serving 5.2M residents. As the only NCI-designated cancer center in South Carolina, the Hollings Cancer Center is part of an elite network of 72 cancer centers across the country recognized for our dedication to delivering cutting-edge treatments to patients and conducting innovative research to serve the unique needs of our state. The Hollings Cancer Center is also one of just 14 National Cancer Institute Minority/Underserved Community Oncology Research Programs across the country with the goal of bringing clinical trials to patients in their communities and reducing disparities in access to care based on regional or socioeconomic status.

Hollings Cancer Center Survivorship and Cancer Outcomes Research (SCOR) Founded in 2022 to meet the needs of the growing population of cancer survivors and their caregivers, SCOR provides a transdisciplinary hub for collaborative research between clinicians and researchers in survivorship, cancer care delivery and cancer outcomes. SCOR is dedicated to 1) delivering evidence based, equitable, accessible, and patient-centered care to cancer survivors; 2) fostering transformative and paradigm-changing research in cancer survivorship, outcomes, and care delivery; and 3) establishing a pipeline to inspire, train, and advance the next generation of survivorship researchers.
