Interning at Walmart
Held over an 11-week period during the summer of 2025 for graduate level students graduating between December 2025 and August 2026. The paid internship will prepare associates for a career with Global Corporate Responsibility. Work on a meaningful project, network with industry experts, and develop your skills while having an inspiring summer!
About the Global Responsibility Internship
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic graduate level summer intern to join our dynamic Global Responsibility team at THE Fortune 1 Company, Walmart. In this role, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in various aspects of global corporate responsibility, learn from seasoned professionals, and contribute to the success of our organization that supports more than 2.1 million associates and countless communities worldwide. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop your leadership skills, expand your professional network, and make a lasting impact on our company’s mission and values.
We are looking for bold, innovative, and passionate interns with leadership potential, who are not only interested in participating in the internship experience but also considering a full-time position in our company.
During the 11-week internship, participants will:
Have an opportunity to benefit from leadership development, professional mentorship, and technical training in one or more functional areas including Sustainability, Philanthropy, Environmental, and Social & Governance (ESG).
Be exposed to the vision, mission, and strategic objectives of our Global Responsibility function as well as our larger Walmart/Sam’s Club business strategy and operations.
Learn about numerous sustainability, ESG, and Philanthropic initiatives and the various roles within Global Responsibility.
Work alongside various internal teams (sustainability, philanthropy, ESG) to coordinate initiatives and ensure consistent communication around global responsibility efforts.
Take initiative, remain bold in their ideas and actively participate in all discussions.
Conduct internal and external research, benchmarking, and data analysis as appropriate.
Partner with other associates across teams/functions to identify solutions and present recommendations.
Build their network of Global Responsibility professionals across the enterprise and receive direct exposure to several Global Responsibility leaders, including the Chief Sustainability Officer, President of the Walmart Foundation, and VPs of various business segments, and exclusive exposure to the Global Responsibility Leadership Team.
Receive support and guidance from a host of individuals including mentors and a dedicated Program Manager who will host cohort-specific professional and social events and learning opportunities for the Global Responsibility intern.
Create life-long relationships with other interns through company-wide events sponsored by the Corporate Intern Program. i.e. Community Volunteering, Distribution Center Tours, Store Tours, Community Events, and our annual softball game against the executives. These activities allow you to learn more about Walmart and socialize with interns from across the company.
During the 11-week internship, participants projects might include:
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
Working alongside various internal teams (sustainability, philanthropy, ESG) to coordinate initiatives and ensure consistent communication around global responsibility efforts.
Present findings and recommendations to senior leaders and contribute to internal discussions on shaping Walmart’s future global responsibility strategies and current programmatic outcomes.
Data Analysis and Impact Reporting:
Analyzing programmatic reports from grant investments to identify trends, measuring the effectiveness of grant-making, and assess long-term social impact.
Conducting desk research on how needs in different fields may be evolving.
Synthesizing insights and produce reports that highlight key performance indicators (KPIs) for strategic philanthropy programs.
Supporting the development of dashboards and data visualizations to track and communicate the impact of philanthropic investments to internal stakeholders
Assist the strategic philanthropy team in refining the grant-making process by identifying gaps in data collection, reporting, and evaluation methods.
Propose recommendations for improving program monitoring, evaluation frameworks, and impact reporting mechanisms.
Sustainability Research and Support:
Assisting the sustainability team in analyzing data related to Walmart’s waste management practices, including waste reduction and recycling efforts.
Conducting research and data analysis to help quantify Walmart’s progress in broader sustainability efforts footprint, through waste management, supply chain sustainability, and renewable energy initiatives.
Work with cross-functional teams to explore innovative sustainability practices and assess their potential impact on Walmart’s overall sustainability goals
ESG Strategy and Metrics Support:
Collaborating with the ESG team to gather, analyze, and interpret data relevant to Walmart’s environmental, social, and governance initiatives.
Conducting benchmarking on key ESG metrics that will help the ESG team prioritize issue strategies for the following year.
Assist in developing training materials on Walmart’s ESG approach for internal subject matters experts.
Special Projects and Research:
Leading a specific project focused on either sustainability, ESG, or philanthropy, based on team needs.
Conducting in-depth research on emerging trends in corporate social responsibility, sustainability, or philanthropy that could inform Walmart’s future strategy.
Present the outcomes of the project to leadership at the end of the internship, showcasing the impact of the work completed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be actively enrolled in a Graduate degree program.
Expected graduation date between December 2025-August 2026.
0-2 years of full-time relevant experience.
Preferred: 1-2 year(s) of previous experience working in business, sustainability, public policy, or social impact in either a full-time or part-time capacity or has held previous internship(s).
Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Strong data analysis and visualization skills
Strong attention to detail.
Strong time-management skills.
Willingness to relocate to Walmart’s Home Office Hub (Bentonville, AR) after graduation.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam’s Club facilities. The hourly wage range for this position is $21.00-$40.00*
*The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
