Requirements
  • A Rod Technician must be entry level, have a high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 18 years old, and desire to work outdoors.
  • An Instrument Technician must have a high school diploma and at least one year of land survey field experience.
  • The employee must be physically capable of cutting brush and hammering iron and wood stakes.
  • The employee must follow safety requirements.
  • The employee must be knowledgeable of traffic control and safety procedures for surveying and construction operations.
  • The employee must be familiar with proper procedures for the care, cleaning, and use of surveying tools and electronic equipment, including the tribrach and tripod.
  • The employee must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • The employee must be able to work outside for 8–10 hours a day.
  • The employee must be able to walk 2 miles.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Party Chief as directed in conducting boundary, topography, ALTA, right-of-way, and construction surveys for public and private clients.
  • Perform routine tasks that provide familiarity with equipment, terminology, and operating procedures.
  • Cut brush and hammer iron and wood stakes.
  • Abide by safety requirements.
  • Perform routine work that does not require previous experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
