Requirements
  • A baccalaureate degree in nursing is required.
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse registration or eligibility for licensure in New York State is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels and with external customers and agencies.

Responsibilities
  • Have responsibility, authority, and accountability for patient-care delivery within the defined patient-care area on the assigned primary shift.
  • Contribute to goal setting and identify opportunities for the assigned patient-care areas in alignment with organizational goals and strategic nursing initiatives.
  • Mentor staff to develop a patient-care team demonstrating nursing leadership, professionalism, competency, and quality.
  • Provide visible leadership for direct patient care delivered by specialty nursing-unit staff on the assigned primary shift.
  • Ensure competent and compassionate patient care is consistently provided to referring facilities, hospital staff, patients, families, peers, and physicians across inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings.
  • Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, programs, and services consistent with the hospital mission and unit vision and philosophy.
  • Provide direction and support to unit-based staff.
  • Collaborate with service and department leaders to achieve short- and long-term goals and objectives.
  • Coach and mentor staff.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master’s of Nursing is preferred.
  • Management experience is preferred.
