Advanced Behavior Technician

Overview

Autism Spectrum Therapies ("AST"), one of the largest and most respected autism services organizations in the county, is currently seeking an Advanced Behavior Technician, to join our team.

The Advanced Behavior Technician provides behavioral intervention to children with autism and their families in a variety of settings. An Advanced Behavior Technician reports directly to a Clinical Supervisor. and is responsible for implementing the specific ABA programs/treatment plans as written by the Supervisor for their specific clients. In addition to implementing behavior plans and program goals, the behavior interventionist is responsible for collecting data and working closely with parents. An Advanced Technician will recommend programming goals for their clients, create client materials as needed, run monthly team meetings with their clients, respond to parent questions, and prepare progress reports when assigned.

Responsibilities

Student Support

• Provide classroom and student supports to students exhibiting behavioral, social-emotional, or communication challenges.
• Support individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs), reinforcement systems, and behavior supports as trained and guided by supervising BCBA.
• Assist with transitions, academic participation, and generalization of learned skills across school environments (e.g., classroom, cafeteria, playground).

Classroom Consultation

• Collaborate with general and special education teachers, aides, and related service staff to model and support the implementation of ABA strategies and classroom management tools.
• Offer feedback on student behavior trends and support school staff in adjusting strategies as needed.

Data Collection & Analysis

• Collect ongoing ABC data, frequency counts, duration data, and other metrics aligned with IEP goals or BIP targets.
• Monitor and report on student progress regularly using approved systems and templates.
• Participate in team data review meetings with BCBAs and school partners.

Plan Recommendations & Implementation

• Based on data and observed patterns, provide recommendations for proactive strategies and environmental modifications, with BCBA oversight.
• Support in adjusting reinforcement systems, visual supports, and prompting strategies based on student needs.
• Contribute to the development of progress summaries and informal treatment updates.

Collaboration & Communication

• Maintain professional, timely communication with supervisors, educators, and school team members.
• Participate in scheduled meetings with the BCBA supervisor to review student progress and plan next steps.
• Communicate any changes in student behavior, risk concerns, or team needs promptly to the supervising BCBA.

Professional Conduct

• Uphold all school-site policies and maintain confidentiality of student and school information.
• Model professional behavior, reliability, and responsiveness at all times while on school grounds.
• Maintain accurate records of session notes, data logs, and any required documentation.

Qualifications

• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification preferred
• 1–2 years of experience in ABA or special education setting.
• Early child experience preferred
• Experience working in school environments preferred.
• Strong communication, data collection, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with diverse teams.
