General Notes
The UTCSR GNSS-related research portfolio applies to spaceborne gravity field mapping (GRACE-FO and GRACE-C), space ties (ESA/GENESIS), and terrestrial reference frame research. We pursue sub-cm-precision satellite orbit determination (LEO, MEO, and Cislunar); and mm-precision static positioning for geodetic science applications.
Purpose
Research and Development for GNSS-related applications, modeling, software, and data system operations, contributing to various space geodetic research projects.
Responsibilities
Software development, engineering analyses, modeling and interpretation of GNSS data for precise orbit determination and precise geodetic positioning.
Documentation and presentations. Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
MS or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Geodesy, or related disciplines with six years of experienc
Experience with one or more out of: GNSS modeling and data analysis; Satellite orbit determination; Precise position estimation using GNSS.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with space missions and their global geodetic applications, and related data wrangling.
Excellent communication skills.
Should be self-motivated, and demonstrate desire and ability to work with others in a deadline-driven, collaborative environment.
Computing: Experience with Unix/Linux environment, scientific programming languages (C, FORTRAN, C++, or comparable), shell scripting and python is required. Experience with data visualization for scientific analysis, web development, databases and php is a plus.
Salary Range
$85,000 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
May work around standard office conditions.
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
Occasional on-call/travel duties.
