Responsibilities
  • Perform belting and polishing operations using conventional polishing and belting lathes according to engineering drawings, including fiber-wheel and satin finishes.
  • Perform buffing and polishing operations using conventional lathes and appropriate wheels, compounds, and machine speeds to achieve specified finishes from engineering drawings.
  • Perform die grinding, flapping, or detailing with air-powered or electric handheld tools on confined areas or the inside diameter of cylindrical parts.
  • Determine blasting media, machine, and machine settings from engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Operate centrifugal and vibratory tumbling equipment for mass finishing, selecting the appropriate media, compound, and water flow.
  • Complete paperwork and labor-reporting transactions accurately.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and equipment, including completing weekly housekeeping according to the 5S schedule.
  • Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, and unusual conditions to the department supervisor or lead.
  • Safely transport products using hand trucks, pallet jacks, carts, and tables.
  • Dimensionally inspect work using calipers, comparators, pin gauges, measuring instruments, surface plates, and other appropriate tools.
  • Complete all required training.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and environmental, health, and safety initiatives.
  • Support quality and compliance by following procedures, work instructions, and forms in accordance with the Quality Management System.
  • Follow work orders to perform operations on various parts and products.
  • Follow designated safety rules and regulations.
  • Reinforce safety expectations, demonstrate safe operating practices, and report safety issues or concerns to the supervisor.
