Requirements
  • 3 or more years of system design for lithium-ion battery packs or related technologies.
  • Minimum 4 years of engineering experience for automotive, aerospace, industrial or related industries.
  • Experience in design, developing and testing of battery systems for electrified propulsion or stationary energy storage.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including strong technical communication.
  • Self-directed with strong leadership, team building, collaboration, communication, organizational skills, and demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in working in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Basic understanding of UL, or similar, and regulatory certification processes.
  • Proficient with CAD programs such as Catia or Solidworks.
  • Familiar with electrical layout, design, and analysis programs.
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or similar with strong emphasis on practical work.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the electrical design and development of lithium-ion battery systems for various applications, including electric vehicles, aerospace, renewable energy storage, and more.
  • Work on improving battery performance, energy density, and safety.
  • Identify core issues, develop solutions, and effectively communicate the impacts across internal and external teams.
  • Create and deliver CAD models and presentations to customers.
  • Conduct tests to evaluate battery performance under different conditions. Analyze data to identify potential improvements and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in battery technology. Innovate new materials and methods to enhance battery performance.
  • Manage schedule and tasking to meet and exceed expectations.
  • Communicate across engineering disciplines to make program critical decisions. Work cross-functionally to verify battery software and hardware meet the system needs and battery pack requirements.
  • Work closely with program management, engineering, procurement, and manufacturing to integrate battery systems into products. Ensure the battery design meets the overall product requirements.
  • Ensure all battery designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop supporting material for design such as bill of materials, assembly, or installation procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • M.S. or PhD in Electrical Engineering or similar with strong emphasis on practical work.
  • 2 or more years of project management experience.
  • Experience with BMS software development and control algorithms.
  • Experience with mathematical modeling of batteries or experimental work in the field of batteries.
