Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent engineering science, or 5+ years of related construction management experience in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 5 years of construction management experience on large, complex mission-critical projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plants.
  • Strong general contractor and vendor management experience, including requests for proposals, bidding, change orders, quality control, and request for information/submittal tracking associated with construction and project execution.
  • Strong documentation skills, clear written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to use data to justify conclusions.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings for all disciplines.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations, including Life Safety, Building Officials and Code Administrators, National Fire Protection Association, National Electrical Code, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Own project scope, quality, schedule, and budget for construction-related activities on new builds or capital projects.
  • Interface directly with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and project closeout and punch-list phases.
  • Monitor project progress through updated schedules, communicate changes, manage client expectations, and identify and negotiate justified time extensions where allowed.
  • Manage construction projects for initiatives aimed at increasing data center resiliency.
  • Resolve scope problems with subcontractors and trades.
  • Manage construction documents, including submittal reviews, requests for information, change orders, and invoicing.
  • Perform construction project quality control.
  • Record and report key construction metrics to team members and management.
  • Drive teams in troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis associated with equipment failures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Data center white space construction experience.
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical principles relating to data centers.
  • Experience with Procore or similar project management software.
  • Knowledge of local subcontractors and relationships with local low-voltage, electrical, and mechanical contractors.
  • Experience directly related to the design or construction of data centers, critical infrastructure, or large-scale mechanical and electrical plants.
