- Successfully completed a one-year dental assistant program accredited by the American Dental Association’s Commission on Dental Accreditation.
- Have at least one year of experience as a dental assistant.
- Be competent in four-handed dentistry and assisting with specialty procedures, including oral surgery, periodontal therapy, endodontics, prosthodontics, and implant placement and restorations.
- Hold a Dental Radiological Certificate.
- Hold a current Basic Life Support and/or cardiopulmonary resuscitation card.
- Perform chairside assistant duties in all phases of dentistry, including prosthodontics, periodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and endodontics.
- Receive and route patients, record information related to patient care, use dental programs, and provide patients with educational materials related to their care.
- Provide proper verbal and written postoperative instructions following surgical procedures.
- Instruct, assist, and answer questions for dental trainees in the Dental Clinic.
