- Previous construction layout experience is required.
- Experience operating total stations and automatic levels is required.
- Working knowledge of common field tools, including tape measures, hammers, torpedo levels, stick rulers, framing squares, and 2-foot or 4-foot levels, is required.
- Working knowledge of construction layout principles, surveying calculations, and field measurements is required.
- Ability to calculate concrete quantities for footings, elevated slabs, round columns, and similar work is required.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications is required.
- Ability to accurately convert inches to decimal feet and decimal feet to inches is required.
- Ability to work safely in an active construction environment is required.
- Ability to write clean and legible survey notes is required.
- Basic math skills, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, are required.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Ability to work overtime and weekend hours is required.
- Operate total stations, automatic levels, and other surveying equipment to support construction layout.
- Establish and maintain vertical and horizontal project control.
- Perform construction layout by setting stakes and marking lines, elevations, grades, and reference points.
- Provide and verify accurate layout conforming to contract drawings and project specifications, including foundations, anchor bolts, embeds, slabs, walls, and other critical items.
- Ability to work in an Occupational Safety and Health Administration-compliant safety environment.
