Requirements
  • 6–10 years in LiveOps, game operations, product marketing, promotions, or growth operations for a consumer mobile product, including full ownership of an events and offers calendar for a live title at scale.
  • Experience managing at least one or two operators directly, or clear and evidenced progression into a management line through setting standards, reviewing work, and developing others.
  • Evidence of running a title's economy, including prize curves, entry-fee tiering, bonus rules, and a documented decision to change or retire something on margin grounds.
  • Experience running a measured experimentation practice using control groups or holdouts with a defined read, including a result that changed what was shipped or a null result.
  • Hands-on experience with campaign and segmentation tooling such as CleverTap, Braze, MoEngage, WebEngage, or an internal admin portal.
  • Ability to pull data independently using SQL or a business intelligence tool.
  • Ability to work in a fast weekly cycle, support a function being built around the role, and have results independently scored by an analytics function.
  • Ability to reason in event margin and incremental net gaming revenue and distinguish campaign performance from favorable timing.
  • Understanding that offers are a cost, including reasoning about prize curves, collection versus prizes, and net deposits.
  • Comfort with campaign tooling and configuration, eligibility rules, and guardrails.
  • Ability to reserve holdouts before sends, define the read before launch, and accept a null result.
  • Ability to retire a popular but negative-margin event and explain the decision to players, Product, and the team.
  • Ability to hold a position against Product and Analytics and serve as the accountable voice for the surface among senior stakeholders.
  • Clear written communication for weekly commentary explaining what moved, why, and what happens next.
Responsibilities
  • Own the Blackout Bingo LiveOps calendar end to end, including events, tournaments, promotions, and the limited-time-offer slate.
  • Be accountable for incremental net gaming revenue per campaign, event margin, and the count of events running at negative margin.
  • Lead the Blackout Bingo LiveOps line, set standards, develop the team, and hire into it.
  • Design and configure campaigns directly, including segments, entry-fee tiers, prize curves, schedules, eligibility, and guardrails, in the admin portal and CleverTap.
  • Tune the slate to Blackout Bingo's economy, including entry-fee distribution, session profile, tail composition, and marquee rhythm.
  • Enforce offer discipline through the standard bonus cap, same-day bonus decay, wallet-balance gating, net-winner exclusions, and prevention of limited-time-offer stacking.
  • Reserve holdouts at send time and run experiments end to end from hypothesis and segmentation through control and read, retiring ineffective incentives.
  • Deliver the tail live-event tier, zonal identity events, and month-long merchandise events on Blackout Bingo as the economy rebalance rolls out.
  • Own the Blackout Bingo line in the weekly LiveOps Review and provide per-venue scorecard commentary on what moved, why, and what happens next.
  • Partner with Product on capabilities and roadmap, Analytics on measurement and independent scoring, Lifecycle customer relationship management on messaging, and Launch go-to-market on feature adoption.
  • Contribute to the Game LiveOps operating model alongside Indrani G as the function scales.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in real-money gaming, online gambling, fantasy sports, fintech, or a mid-core free-to-play title with a deep in-game economy.
  • Experience in the bingo, casual, or social-casino category.

Papaya Gaming ordered to pay $719M to Skillz for faking competition with bots

A US federal court has ordered Papaya Gaming to pay $719 million to Skillz Platform Inc., a subsidiary of Firy Inc. (NYSE: FIRY), in a false advertising case. The disgorgement represents Papaya's unjust profits and replaces the $420 million in actual damages awarded by a jury in April 2026. The court found that Papaya used bots to falsely advertise prize money between 2021 and 2024. Evidence showed that approximately 70% of $6.7 billion in advertised prizes, roughly $4.7 billion, was never paid to customers because Papaya's bots won instead. Papaya deployed more than 13 million bot participants compared to roughly 11 million real human players. The court also awarded Skillz approximately $10 million in legal fees. Papaya's post-trial motions challenging the verdict were denied. The original jury verdict was the largest false advertising award in US history under the Lanham Act.

Paying monthly active users fell 9% quarter-over-quarter to 128,000, whilst average revenue per paying user increased 7%. The company secured a major legal victory against Papaya Gaming, with a jury awarding $420 million in damages for false advertising. Skillz ended the quarter with $185 million in cash and faces $130 million of debt due by year-end.
