Requirements
  • Six or more years of related accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and/or statutory accounting requirements and functional business-area regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard methodologies for sophisticated financial statement preparation, including consolidation of companies and subsidiaries.
  • Knowledge of taxation principles and their impact on statement preparation.
  • Ability to analyze, discover, and solve accounting problems; interpret financial documents and data; and analyze and interpret legal requirements.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to interpret changes in financial reporting and legal requirements and assess their impact on financial statement preparation and company or business-area policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively operate a personal computer and related software.
  • Ability to apply accounting principles, theories, concepts, and practices to specialized, unique, and/or complex problems.
  • A valid credit and/or background check is required as part of the selection process.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the research, analysis, and implementation of new or revised accounting policies and procedures.
  • Develop recommendations to enhance, improve, or facilitate job performance, processing, or workflow.
  • Advise senior management on acquiring data, recording and analyzing complex accounting transactions, and preparing complex accounting transactions and statements.
  • Develop and submit complex accounting and financial transactions required to ensure accurate reporting at all levels.
  • Advise management on the accuracy of reports, forms, and data provided to internal and external clients or customers.
  • Coordinate development of actions and policies to address unfavorable financial situations disclosed by accounting analysis.
  • Serve as the specialist on changes to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and/or statutory regulatory requirements that affect financial-document submissions, reports, and other data, and provide consultation on their internal impact.
  • Act as project lead in the development and design of new and enhanced systems and processes within assigned areas.
  • Guide the preparation and analysis of complex pro forma financial data required for compliance with new requirements.
  • Advise management on applying financial data and analysis to solve administrative and operating problems.
  • Coordinate and own the preparation of complex financial information for auditors, the Internal Revenue Service, state examiners, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and coaching to two associates.
