Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Transportation Manager to oversee our local transportation operations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of CDL Class A business, port logistics, pickups, deliveries, and transloading processes. As the Transportation Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods in our local service area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of our transportation services, including but not limited to port pickups, deliveries, and transloading.
- Oversee a team of drivers, dispatchers, and logistics personnel, ensuring they adhere to safety regulations and meet performance targets.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
- Plan and optimize transportation routes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
- Monitor and manage vehicle maintenance schedules and ensure all vehicles meet safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including CDL and transportation laws.
- Track and report key performance metrics to senior management, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
- Continuously seek opportunities to streamline processes and improve overall transportation efficiency.
- Handle any transportation-related issues or emergencies promptly and efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in transportation management, with a strong understanding of CDL Class A business operations.
- Knowledge of port logistics, pickup, delivery, and transloading processes.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in transportation management software and tools.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
