The Role:
Our General Counsel is seeking to make the first addition to a new and growing Legal team. As the Associate General Counsel - Commercial and Product, you will be a trusted partner to internal clients (Sales, Product, Business Operations, Compliance, and Trust & Safety teams) and have the opportunity to own a wide range of legal matters, including contracting, intellectual property, product development, healthcare compliance, data security, and privacy. In this role, you will be expected to apply your legal expertise to provide practical and creative solutions to address complex legal and business risks. This is an exciting opportunity to be an early member of the Legal team at Medely and play a strategic role in shaping the Legal organization.
What you’ll do:
Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of agreements, including customer-facing services agreements, vendor agreements, NDAs, and online terms of use.
Drive and improve Medely’s contracting process, including workflows, policies, Sales team training, and pipeline management.
Work closely with Medely’s Sales and Product teams to develop a deep understanding of Medely’s offerings and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including employment laws, state privacy regulations and healthcare industry standards.
Partner with Medley’s Product team to identify and advise on legal issues throughout the product development lifecycle.
Contribute to cross-functional teams as a trusted advisor, creative problem-solver, and strategic thinker.
What you’ll need to have:
JD degree from an accredited law school.
Membership in good standing in at least one state bar (New York or California preferred).
6+ years of related law firm and/or in-house legal experience.
Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements as well as developing templates, playbooks, and scalable contracting processes.
Familiarity with employment laws, healthcare regulations, state privacy laws, and intellectual property laws.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a track record of working collaboratively across multiple functions.
You have a can-do attitude and willingness to roll up your sleeves, and a desire to get into the details of the business and legal work of the company - no job too big or small.
The estimated compensation for this role is: $174,600 - $213,400
