Reporting to the CFO, this role will own the entirety of Branch’s risk management approach, from analysis to strategy to operations, to ensure a scalable, profitable product.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Deepen the use of analytics to detect fraud and risk and develop strategies to reduce losses
- Manage fraud operations team to ensure maximum efficiency and adequate staffing and training, drive operational analytics
- Manage receivable risk and losses of Branch partners and customers for Branch’s Earned Wage Access product by analyzing and improving loss funnel in conjunction with Branch partnerships
- Work in partnership with product and technology teams to develop tools to implement scalable risk strategies
- Drive risk team activity including building systems, processes, and KPIs to optimize performance across risk operations, analytics, and strategy
- Develop and drive business case development for risk projects to ensure appropriate prioritization
- Work closely cross-functionally with product, engineering, customer support, finance and legal
To be successful you should have:
- A deep background in fraud and risk mitigation with particular experience in debit-based and/or wallet-based payment products
- Experience building and leading risk teams on strategy, analytics and operations from early to late stages of company growth
- Knowledge and experience working in neobank or wallet-based fintech environments with emerging fraud vectors, including social engineering and first party fraud
- Must be highly analytical in approach. Ability to work independently to build out reporting using standard tools (e.g. SQL, Google Sheets) a major plus
- History of operating closely with issuing processors to implement risk management tools
- Experience of working with card associations and their loss avoidance rules
- Desire to both lead and “roll up the sleeves and get things” done a must.
