Convex has assembled a team of technologists who have built and designed some of the largest backends in the world, with exabytes of data, millions of transactions per second, and shipped desktop and mobile software onto billions of devices. We are a group of friendly, collaborative, and passionate individuals that love working in-person together in our offices in SF and NYC.

The Role:

We are looking for a Product Designer to take on a part-time contract (~20 hours per week) to own the design process. You will play a vital role in the Visual and UI/UX design of the Convex dashboard, website, and online publications. The work includes designing new and iterating on existing features + producing illustrations for developer experience marketing.

What You’ll Do:

• Work closely with leadership, engineering, and developer experience teams to ideate and iterate on features and articles

• Create flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals for your features

• Help create custom illustrations and visual templates and language to accompany articles and documentation

• Create and update design systems

Requirements:

• 4+ years of product design experience with excellent visual and UI skills

• Passion for understanding user frustrations and pleasures, testing hypotheses, and collaborating closely engineering teams

• Familiarity with front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, SCSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, React) is preferred (Bonus points if you have some working knowledge of SQL, databases, or APIs!)

• Experience designing developer-centric products, creative software, and/or developer internal tools

• Excellent communicator (and consider writing to be a fundamental design skill)

• Thrive in ambiguity, can independently prioritize work based on user needs and take responsibility to drive product ideas forward

• Ability to think through complex interaction design

• Ability to work 2-3 days per week at Convex’s office located in SF (Potrero Hill)
