An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Control Systems Section Lead to join our Electrical Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) Systems and Safety team at Rolls-Royce Submarines.

The EC&I Systems and Safety team develops the system design, safety case and information assurance case for the Reactor Control and Instrumentation, Power Systems and Plant Sensors for the Dreadnought and SSN AUKUS classes of submarine.

Your primary focus will be developing the EC&I system designs for SSN AUKUS.

What you will be doing:

As Section Lead for EC&I Systems, you will be leading a growing team of systems engineers with responsibility for:

• Delivery of work packages across the SSN AUKUS and Dreadnought programmes.
• Development of EC&I System concepts and supporting design documentation.
• Evaluation of the safety and integrity of the EC&I System and delivery of design documentation to support the safety case.
• Technical integration across the programmes with internal stakeholders (e.g. mechanical design, fluid systems, operations).
• Ensuring process adherence and appropriate governance is applied to all activities.
• Day to day coaching and direction of the team’s activities in line with the wider plan.

Required:

• Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an electrical, electronics or systems engineering discipline.
• Excellent leadership qualities and great people skills with the ability to effectively communicate and influence stakeholders.
• Experience managing complex technical programmes.
• Experience in the application of systems engineering principles throughout the engineering lifecycle.

One or more of the below is desired:

• Experience of using requirements management tools (eg DOORS).
• Knowledge of functional safety principles.
• Experience of high reliability systems (eg nuclear, defence, rail).

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place.
