Requirements
  • At least four years of experience in maintaining, repairing, testing, and modifying marine electrical and electronics systems, including analog, digital, and radio-frequency circuitry.
  • Ability to operate, maintain, and calibrate microprocessor-based data acquisition systems, test sets, sensors, laboratory bench equipment, and precision calibration electromechanical instruments.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Experience as a team leader.
  • Knowledge and skill in surface-mount device repairs and integrated-circuit replacement.
  • Training or experience in electrostatic-discharge awareness and precautions.
  • Proficiency in reading electronic schematics.
  • An Associate of Science or Associate of Applied Science degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Responsibilities
  • Assemble electronic components at the component level and bench-test, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electronic line-replaceable units and processing systems using established methods, procedures, and techniques.
  • Perform duties in an electronics laboratory environment using bench-type electronic testing equipment.
  • Test and troubleshoot environmental monitoring sensors and data collection and processing systems down to the component level.
  • Use oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters, ammeters, pulse/function generators, resistance thermometers, and waveform generators.
  • Perform quality work using provided procedures, drawings, and schematics.
  • Independently follow procedures and redline drawings, meet time constraints, and complete assigned tasks with limited supervision while conforming to established policies and procedures.
