About the Role

Fivetran’s documentation receives rave reviews from our customers—it is a core part of our product. The Technical Communications Team owns technical documentation and in-product text. Our globally distributed team of technical writers collaborates with product managers, engineers, designers, and support to produce world-class documentation and UI copy that helps our customers succeed.

As a Staff Technical writer, your mission is to make Fivetran docs a shining beacon of documentation excellence. You will write and edit documentation that empowers our customers to use Fivetran and understand how our product works. You’ll collaborate with engineers, product managers, support engineers, and other technical writers. You join a friendly team of technical writers distributed among our international offices.

This is a full-time position based out of our Bangalore office. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team.

Markdown, GitHub, IDE, OpenAPI, Height, Slack, Google Workspace

What You’ll Do

Write, review, and standardize product documentation and release notes
Maintain and enhance REST API documentation to ensure clarity and accuracy
Use a docs-as-code approach, collaborating with engineers and product managers
Improve documentation quality through regular reviews and edits
Develop and maintain an intuitive information architecture for easy navigation
Collaborate with technical writers to refine standards, style, and terminology
Act as a writing resource for other teams
Contribute to style guides and templates

Skills We’re Looking For

6-9 years of experience writing about software or cloud applications for a developer audience
Proven experience documenting REST APIs for developers
Excellent English grammar, writing, and editing skills
Ability to craft clear, concise technical documentation
Strong skills in information architecture and technical editing
Collaborative experience in globally distributed teams
Strong organization, adaptability, and customer empathy
Agility to manage multiple initiatives concurrently in a cross-functional environment

Bonus Skills

SaaS and Agile environment experience
Familiarity with docs-as-code, GitHub, Markdown, CLI, HTML, OpenAPI, and tools similar to Postman.
Knowledge of Python or Java, SQL, data pipelines, and cloud warehouses
