Requirements
  • 3-5+ years of progressive IT experience with meaningful hands-on responsibility for infrastructure, troubleshooting, systems, and end-user support.
  • Demonstrated experience providing IT support across multiple physical locations.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft environments, particularly Microsoft 365 and related identity and productivity tools.
  • Strong networking fundamentals, including experience with LAN/WAN, VLANs, network segmentation, wireless, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting networking and firewall technologies; experience with Cisco Meraki, SonicWall, Ubiquiti, or comparable systems is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, connectivity, and end-user issues independently.
  • Comfort working onsite and traveling to different locations to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Experience with user administration, account provisioning and deprovisioning, permissions, and employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Practical understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, including multifactor authentication, endpoint protection, backups, and security best practices.
  • Experience working with external technology vendors, managed-service providers, or other IT partners.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated reliability and job stability.
  • Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an existing IT team.
  • Comfort working in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving, and evolving organization.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a senior hands-on technology resource for the veterinary practices and home office.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support and troubleshooting for users, systems, hardware, software, and connectivity across multiple locations.
  • Travel regularly to practices throughout New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut, and the surrounding region to provide onsite technical support and resolve issues that cannot be addressed remotely.
  • Assist with the setup, deployment, configuration, and maintenance of computers, workstations, networking equipment, printers, wireless systems, and other technology throughout the organization.
  • Support and maintain Microsoft environments, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, user accounts, permissions, and related productivity tools.
  • Manage user onboarding and offboarding, including account creation, access provisioning, equipment setup, and deprovisioning.
  • Troubleshoot and support LAN/WAN connectivity, VLANs, wireless networks, firewalls, VPNs, and other network infrastructure.
  • Work with external vendors, managed-service providers, internet service providers, and security partners to troubleshoot issues and complete projects.
  • Help maintain endpoint security, multifactor authentication, backup and recovery processes, and other cybersecurity controls.
  • Assist with identifying and remediating security vulnerabilities and audit findings.
  • Help establish and maintain IT standards, procedures, and documentation for consistent deployment and support across multiple locations.
  • Support new practice openings and technology deployments, including onsite work during practice launches.
  • Partner with the CTO and IT team on technology projects, infrastructure improvements, and organizational growth initiatives.
  • Help evaluate technology solutions and identify opportunities to improve reliability, security, efficiency, and the user experience.
  • Foster accountability, responsiveness, security awareness, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with equivalent practical experience also considered.
  • Experience supporting multi-location organizations with regular onsite travel.
  • Experience in veterinary, healthcare services, dental, physician practice management, or other multi-site, high end-user environments.
  • Experience supporting veterinary or practice-management systems such as ezyVet.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, Cisco, or equivalent.
  • Experience with PCI-DSS compliance or supporting organizations with cyber-insurance requirements.
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior IT staff; formal management experience is not required.
