Requirements
  • Current student in an ARRT-recognized radiography program.
  • Current clinical student in an ARRT-recognized radiography program who has completed clinical competencies in chest, abdomen, and extremity categories.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Ability to pull, push, and lift patients up to 300 pounds with assistance and move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per shift in 30-minute increments and perform frequent stooping, crouching, bending, and overhead arm movements.
Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures under the supervision of a registered technologist while adhering to radiation-protection principles.
  • Identify patients and perform diagnostic radiographic services with appropriate care while evaluating technical quality.
  • Ensure assigned areas have the necessary equipment and supplies available.
  • Use the radiology information system and hospital information system modules appropriate to the role.
  • Follow downtime procedures to maintain accurate information and continuity of patient care.
  • Participate in in-service and continuing-education programs for professional development.
  • Provide patients with education about their examinations.
  • Review patient condition, history, and relevant information before examinations.
  • Verify patient selection and medical-record accuracy before sending digital images to the picture archiving and communication system.
  • Maintain confidentiality and properly release information according to policy.
  • Follow employee, patient, environmental-safety, attendance, dress-code, and reporting policies.
  • Support service-excellence, performance-improvement, quality, operational, and resource-accountability initiatives.
